With this piece, I had to create a minimalistic poster of my favourite movie, tv series, or game, using the least amount of graphics. I chose to base mine off of one of my favourite films, “The Italian Job”. If you haven’t seen it, it’s about a group of thieves who plan to steal gold from a former associate who screwed them over. Throughout the film, the team uses Mini Coopers through their heist as they are nimble, but also powerful enough to complete the heist while escaping through sewers and other tight locations.
To make this poster, I used a picture of an old school Mini, and then filled them with their respected colours, while using a blend mode to give them a little bit of detail. Then, using Helvetica Bold, I tightly kerned the text and gave each of the job letters its own colour relating to the colour of the Mini Coopers in the film. I used a grainy yellow background to give it the same feel as the original movie cover.
